…because loving ourselves and being one is important!
With the many issues facing our Black same-gender-loving communities: the media and society not showcasing us in the most positive or accurate light, the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS, a lack of unity, and far too few role models or blueprints for healthy loving relationships with self and others (just to name a few); Now more than ever, we must stand together in and be proud of our truth, history, and heritage.
The ability of a community to move itself progressively forward is contingent upon it’s ability to cultivate loving spaces and act in a unified manner. Here at United Black Ellument we constantly strive to create opportunities in which we can come together to see and showcase our communities in the upmost positive manner. If we don’t do it for ourselves, should we expect anyone else to do it for us!?
We appreciate and love our community!

By getting on and adhering to medical treatment, HIV+ individuals can achieve viral suppression (a very low level of HIV in the blood, also referred to as undetectable). When virally suppressed, HIV+ individuals stay healthy and significantly lower the chances of transmitting the virus to their sex parter(s).
