Not everything billed as a free Dallas activity actually is. This list is scoped to what each institution's own site actually says about cost.
Free every day
Dallas Museum of Art's general admission is free, covering the collection galleries and most exhibitions, per the museum's own press materials (some ticketed special exhibitions are the exception; confirm before planning around a specific show). Klyde Warren Park's ownevents pagedescribes its recurring programming, including Piano in the Park, fitness classes, and story time, as free and open to the public, though the specific lineup changes seasonally. Free on a specific day
The DMA'sFree First Sundays: Access for Allprogram, funded through the Art Bridges Foundation, waives fees for ticketed special exhibitions, described by the museum as typically a $40 value, on the first Sunday of each month. The museum's December 2023 press release states the program runs through the end of 2026; confirm it's still active before planning a visit around it. The Nasher Sculpture Center offersFree First Saturdays, free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., presented by Target, per its own site.
What isn't actually free
TheDallas Arboretumis a paid attraction, not a free one. Its own site lists standard adult admission as a paid ticket, with a discounted rate for eligible EBT cardholders through the Museums for All program, and free admission only for children under 3. It's worth naming here because the discount program is real and useful, but general admission itself is not free.
Free programs, sponsor names, and fee policies change. Verify directly with each institution before a visit, especially anything tied to a specific day of the week or month.
